3-channel video / sound / historic stained glass windows
Bayerisches Nationalmuseum / permanent exhibition
On the central column in this rotunda, ribbons of flowing colors converge, reiterating the colors of the surrounding stained glass windows.
These were formerly illuminated by the continuously changing light of day. Under the conditions of a museum however they appear to be frozen in the artificial electrical lighting.
Giovanni Palestrina’s Motet for the Virgin Mary is heard echoing from two speakers in the background. A blanket of song drifts over changing streams of colour.
The video’s source is a profane one: material for the film was taken from a game arcade in the northern English resort of Blackpool.
